ACUTE HAZARDS/
SYMPTOMS
PREVENTION FIRST AID/
FIRE FIGHTING
FIRE Combustible.
NO open flames. NO contact with strong oxidants.
Powder, alcohol-resistant foam, water spray, carbon dioxide.
EXPLOSION Above 74░C explosive vapour/air mixtures may be formed.
Above 74░C use a closed system, ventilation.
In case of fire: keep drums, etc., cool by spraying with water.
EXPOSURE
PREVENT GENERATION OF MISTS!

  • INHALATION

  • Ventilation.
Fresh air, rest. Refer for medical attention.
  • SKIN
  • Dry skin.
    Protective gloves.

  • EYES

  • Safety spectacles.
First rinse with plenty of water for several minutes (remove contact lenses if easily possible), then take to a doctor.
  • INGESTION

  • Do not eat, drink, or smoke during work.
Rinse mouth. Give water to drink.
SPILLAGE DISPOSAL STORAGE PACKAGING & LABELLING
Collect leaking liquid in sealable containers. Wash away remainder with plenty of water.
Separated from oxidants. Cool. Ventilation along the floor.

    PHYSICAL STATE; APPEARANCE:
COLOURLESS LIQUID , WITH CHARACTERISTIC ODOUR.

    PHYSICAL DANGERS:

    CHEMICAL DANGERS:
The substance can presumably form explosive peroxides in contact with air. Reacts violently with strong oxidants.

    OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE LIMITS (OELs):
    TLV: 100 ppm; 606 mg/m3 (skin) (ACGIH 1991-1992).

    ROUTES OF EXPOSURE:
The substance can be absorbed into the body by inhalation of its vapour, through the skin and by ingestion.

    INHALATION RISK:
A harmful contamination of the air will not or will only very slowly be reached on evaporation of this substance at 20░C.

    EFFECTS OF SHORT-TERM EXPOSURE:

EFFECTS OF LONG-TERM OR REPEATED EXPOSURE:
    PHYSICAL
    PROPERTIES
    Boiling point: 190░C
    Melting point: -80░C
    Relative density (water = 1): 0.95
    Solubility in water: very good
Vapour pressure, Pa at 26░C: 53.2
    Relative vapour density (air = 1): 5.1
    Relative density of the vapour/air-mixture at 20░C (air = 1): 1.0
    Flash point: 74░C
    Auto-ignition temperature: 270░C
Explosive limits, vol% in air: 1.3-10.4
